In the spirit of promoting awareness about Classical music, FAAA is proud to announce the commencement of a week-long workshop on Carnatic music. The carnatic music workshop will be offered by Sri. Ajay Namboodiri.
Sri Ajay Namboodiri began learning music at the age of twelve under the able guidance of Sri. Kalmadi Sadashiva Acharya of Kasaragod in Kerala. He continued his studies under Sri. Palai C.K. Ramachandran and Sri. Reganatha Sharma in later years and his advanced training was under the great teacher Sangeetha Mahopadhyaya Prof. T. R. Subrahmanyam.
At present he is a disciple of Sri. Neyveli Santhana Gopalan, one of the leading lights of contemporary Carnatic music. His training under Sri Neyveli Santhana Gopalan in the past few years has virtually been a kind of ‘Guru Kula Vasa’ and has aided him to imbibe the distinctive ‘Neyveli Bani’ or style in all its classical and aesthetic dimensions.
He currently runs an institution named VISWA KALA PEETAM (A unit of Centre for Carnatic Music). The centre mainly aims at encouraging youngsters devoted to music improve their skills and knowledge and strive towards overall excellence in their chosen field.
He has undertaken various professional assignments including roles as creative producer, conceiver and presenter of programs in various television Channels in India including Zee TV, Asianet, Bharathi T.V. and Jaya TV.
